Active Schools
Our Active Schools Co-ordinator is Fiona Damen. She works very closely with the school and the PTA, organising a huge variety of sports clubs / classes over the school year. The clubs run both within and outwith the school day. Up to date information on which clubs are running at any given time is sent home via pupils. Current clubs include athletics, basketball, netball, football, Hip Hop, which are on offer for a variety of age ranges.
Fiona Damen also trains our PALS (Playground Activity Leaders). PALS are volunteers from our P7 classes who organise games in the playground for the younger children. PALS wear special bright red fleeces so as they are easily identified in the playground. This scheme has proved a tremendous success, both for the P7 children who take their responsibility seriously and the younger children who feel more secure in the playground. The younger children thoroughly enjoy the organised games and love playing them with the P7 children.
