Admission and Enrolment

Primary 1

     Parents are invited to enrol their children at their district school around the first week in the December before they start school.   If your child is aged 4 on or before 28th February you should register your child at your district school.   Advertisments appear in the press and information about dates will also be displayed in nursery and pre-school centres.

     If you do not live in the catchment area you may make a placing request using the form available from our school office or from your child's mursery or pre-school centre.   These applications need to be returned to our Children and Families Department Headquarters by the date shown on the form.  This is normally around the end of December.  

     If you wish to visit James Gillespie's you are welcome to have a tour of our school on our non-district open day which is around the beginning of December.   Please telephone the school for an exact date and time.   If this does not suit you we can arrange other appointments.

Primary 2- 7

     Parents arriving into our area with children of school age throughout the year are welcome to phone the school for an appointment to look round before registering their child.   From time to time, some of our year groups are full and it is necessary to maintain a waiting list of district pupils.
