Curriculum for Excellence
We aim to develop in every child the four capacities from the 'Curriculum for Excellence'.
-
Confident Individuals: we will value all children atJames Gillespie's as individuals and promote their self-confidence, independence, self esteem and relationships with others.
-
Successful Learners: we will provide a range of experiences to encourage the children's thinking, imagination, creativity, social and physical development. We will ensure a broad and balanced educational programme which lays emphasis on the acquisition of basic skills.
-
Responsible Citizens: we will encourage caring and respectful relationships with others in the school and in the wider community as well as developing knowledge and understanding of other beliefs and cultures.
-
Effective Contributors: we will encourage creativity and enterprise in our children and allow them opportunities to develop their problem solving skills both individually and with others.
We aim to develop these capacities in partnership with parents and carers and to enable all stakeholders within the school community to feel actively involved in the life of the school.
We believe that every child has the right to the best possible education we can give them. We strive for the highest attainment for every child and also to recognise the many achievements that young children make in their lives both outside as well as inside school.
