JGPS Council
The James Gillespie's Primary School Council was set up in late 2007. The Council aims are to:

Promote partnership between the school , its pupils, their parents and carers, and the school staff

Develop and engage in activities that support the education and welfare of the pupils

Identify and represent the views of the pupils and parents / carers on the education provided by the school and welfare of the pupils

Consult the staff, parents / carers and pupils on the education provided by the school, and other matters affecting the school
The School Council has 14 elected members, who are parents, as well as 3 co-opted members from the teaching staff. It meets at least once per term, and everyone is welcome to attend.
